Slavka lives among the mountains of eastern BC in Canada. Her collaborative illustration work marries her background in visual art with her love of the book format.

Her paintings are visual translations of psychological landscapes, incorporating archetypal symbols and anthropomorphic shapes. She has always been drawn to storytelling and the artisanal process where the human hand, with all its imperfections, is involved in each iteration of the creation of a painting, keeping alive the soul of the world. This practice helps to structure her emotional world and share it.

Slavka studied figurative painting at the Toronto Academy of Realist Art and she holds a BFA in visual studies and art history from the University of Toronto. She also studied ancient Indian art & history at the Viswa Bharati University in Santiniketan, India.
